Creating a More Inclusive Home for All Eagles

Major Pavilion Redevelopment for Elderslie Reserve

The Addy

We were honoured to welcome Christine Couzens MP (Member for Geelong), Greater Geelong Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM and Councillor Eddy Kontelj to Elderslie Reserve for the announcement of a $1.894 million pavilion redevelopment – a huge step forward for the future of our club and community.

As female participation in footy continues to grow, this redevelopment will focus on creating inclusive, accessible facilities to better support our players, umpires and supporters. Thanks to a $1 million grant from the Victorian Government’s Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund (Women and Girls Facilities stream), the upgrade will deliver female-friendly change rooms and amenities, allowing us to better attract and retain players across all levels.

The City of Greater Geelong has also committed $844,000 to the project, with the pavilion works including improved pathways, accessible restrooms and sensory-friendly design features.

In addition, we’ve secured a $50,000 grant from the All Abilities Participation Initiative to help make Aussie Rules more inclusive for people with disability. These improvements reflect our commitment to making Elderslie Reserve a welcoming space for all.
