Wellbeing

Wellbeing at N&CFNC

At the Newtown & Chilwell Football Netball Club, we’re more than just a football and netball club, we’re a community. And like any good community, we look out for each other.

That’s why we have a dedicated Wellbeing Team, made up of passionate and approachable volunteers, here to support the health and wellbeing of all members of our club; players, coaches, volunteers, parents and supporters.

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, worried about someone else, or just need someone to talk to, our team is here to help. It’s always OK to reach out, whether it’s a small worry or something more serious, you’re never alone at the N&CFNC.

We’re actively building a culture where looking out for each other is just part of the game.  Together, we play strong, we lead with kindness and we look out for each other.

Accessing Support

You can reach out to any of our Wellbeing Team, and we’ve also created a comprehensive list of national and local services, ranging from crisis support and mental health to addiction, family violence, LGBTIQ+ support, and youth services.
You can access this resource at this link, at the Club or from a Wellbeing Officer.

Our Wellbeing Officers are here to:

  • Be a trusted, approachable ear if you’re worried about your own wellbeing or someone else’s
  • Help guide you toward professional support services where needed
  • Encourage respectful, inclusive language and promote positive, healthy behaviours across our club
  • Share relevant wellbeing resources and up-to-date referral information

Where appropriate, all players are encouraged to raise any initial concerns or queries in relation to their general health and wellbeing to their coach. However, coaches, players, parents or any member of our club community may at any time seek out support or guidance from our Wellbeing Officers.

Our Wellbeing Officers listen and act as a sounding board if you need to talk to someone about how you are feeling, or about something that you have experienced. Wellbeing Officers can offer information or referrals and connect you with professional support if you need it. They may also liaise with the Club’s Director or Football or Director of Netball as appropriate.

Our Wellbeing Officers have been provided with resources and training in relation to wellbeing and mental health, however Wellbeing Officers are not counsellors, rather volunteers who are able to provide support and referrals to players, coaches and others in our club community.
